Championship interest in youngster

Manchester City youngster Ahmad Benali is interesting a number of Football League clubs, Sky Sports can confirm. The Manchester-born 20-year-old has come through the highly acclaimed youth system at the Etihad Stadium. He joined Rochdale on loan earlier this season, but did not settle at Spotland and he returned to City to continue his development with their Elite training squad. The attacking midfielder is out of contract at City this summer, and he is already attracting interest from a number of Championship clubs. "Ahmad had a disappointing time on loan at Rochdale and was unable to return to City until the January recall. Having returned to City he has got back in to his rhythm and been prolific over recent weeks in the Elite Development Squad," his agent Adam Bouskouchi confirmed to Sky Sports. "Given that Ahmad is a very skilful player and his best position is as an attacking midfielder we are carefully assessing our options to ensure he goes to a team who will be suited to his style of play. "There are a number of clubs to have expressed an interest, but we can't go into details at this point." Burnley and Middlesbrough are believed to be amongst the sides keen on taking Benali, who can also play up-front or on the wing.
