Aleksandar Kolarov insists Manchester City and neighbours Manchester United are in a two-horse race for the Premier League title but believes his side have the edge.
City currently lead second-placed United by two points at the top of the table as they bid to lift their first league trophy since 1968.
Tottenham have been tipped as outside contenders for the title, sitting five points behind the Red Devils in third place.
But City defender Kolarov believes the race will ultimately come down to his side and United, and feels Roberto Mancini's men are the better team.
The Serbian also feels their Etihad Stadium clash with United at the end of April could prove decisive.
"We are in a two-way battle with United at the top of the Premiership and I think it will be like that until the very end," he told Serbian website B92.
"Of course, that raises the tension so every game in every round our two clubs play will be on a high note.
"We are playing well, have a two-point advantage and they (United) are coming to our ground three rounds before the end.
"Maybe that game will be the decisive one, but I think we are the better team and must show that on the pitch."
After crashing out of both the FA and Carling Cups, Kolarov is determined to secure silverware in the Premier League and Europa League.
He added: "At the beginning we played in four competitions, now we play in two. We want to win a trophy in both as that is the target of the club and our surroundings.
"We are on a good run, so we will see what we can do."
City could be boosted in the run-in if Carlos Tevez returns to action having spent the last three months in his native Argentina following his infamous bench row at Bayern Munich back in September.
Tevez trained alone at City's Carrington training ground on Wednesday after stating his desire to reclaim his place in Mancini's squad.
Kolarov insists the players are in the dark over the situation surrounding the striker, adding: "We don't talk about it in the locker room and nobody knows how it will develop.
"I don't have anything to comment about it, it is a thing between the two of them. As I said, no one is talking about it and, in the end, it's not for the players to comment on such situations."
