Carlos Tevez says he is determined to win back the support of Manchester City's fans after claiming they were 'misinformed' over the events surrounding his row with the club.
Tevez is due to return to Ethiad Stadium on Tuesday after spending two months in his native Argentina following a bust-up with City over his refusal to warm-up during their UEFA Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich back in September.
The striker's career with the club had appeared over but it emerged on Monday he was hoping to find a way back into manager Roberto Mancini's squad.
He maintains he was unfairly treated by Mancini at Bayern and claims City's fans were not told the full story over the incident.
"I gave everything to that club and when I saw them burning my shirt with my name on it or hurling insults at me, it really hurt. "
Carlos Tevez Quotes of the week
Tevez admits he was "really hurt" to see supporters turn against him in the aftermath of the row but has vowed to regain their trust when he returns to the club.
"It's a decision I've taken to win back the supporters who've turned against me since what happened against Bayern," he said in an interview with Argentina's Fox Sports.
Misinformed
"I believe they were misinformed. They weren't told the facts. So when they were told I didn't want to play they naturally turned against me.
"If a player doesn't want to play for the team that's paying his wages, it's only natural for them to turn against that player.
"I couldn't understand what was going on. I swore like any player would.
"I gave everything to that club and when I saw them burning my shirt with my name on it or hurling insults at me, it really hurt.
"I gave everything to that club and what I love above all is to play football."
