Man City will not be bringing back defender

Dedryck Boyata is to remain on loan at Bolton until the end of the season after Manchester City decided not to recall the defender. Boyata agreed a year-long switch to the Reebok Stadium last summer but, as part of the deal, parent club Manchester City had the option to bring back their player midway through the campaign. With Vincent Kompany starting a four-match ban and Kolo Toure away at the African Cup of Nations there was a suggestion City manager Roberto Mancini may invoke the clause. However, it is understood the deadline has already passed for City to make that request and Boyata will not now be returning to the Etihad Stadium. He will instead remain with the Trotters for the rest of the campaign to help Owen Coyle's side in their battle against relegation. Bolton are currently languishing in the relegation zone but Boyata has earned praise for his performances this season, even if he has also struggled with injury problems.
