Midfielder could make league debut for City against Villa

Owen Hargreaves is expected to be fully fit after the international break and could make his Premier League debut for Manchester City against Aston Villa. The injury-plagued former Manchester United midfielder marked his first appearance for City with a goal in the Carling Cup win over Birmingham. Hargreaves is expected to benefit from two behind-closed-doors friendlies during the international break and City coach David Platt then expects the player to be match-fit. Villa visit the Etihad Stadium on 15th October and Hargreaves, who has not played a competitive 90 minutes for more than three years, is likely to be involved. "He's in good shape," said Platt in the Manchester Evening News. "When the boys get back from the international break, Owen should be there or thereabouts with his own full pre-season under him."
