Midfielder calls for patience with boss

Patrick Vieira has backed Roberto Mancini as the right man to lead Manchester City to success. City have dropped out of the title race in recent weeks and also crashed out of the Europa League to Dynamo Kiev earlier this month. Mancini is reported to be under pressure with a top-four finish the minimum requirement for City this term. A number of clubs in Italy are thought to keen on luring the former Inter Milan boss back home if he loses his Eastlands position. However, Vieira, who played under Mancini at Inter, believes the Italian needs time before he can assemble a title-winning side at Eastlands.

Time

"The ingredients are there but in football you need time," Vieira told the Daily Mirror. "But people don't give you time. So that is the pressure, but we deal with it because it's part of our job. "He (Mancini) is a really demanding manager, demanding in the amount of concentration he expects from his team in training and in games. "He is always behind the players, trying to get the best of his players. "We know we can win the title with the team we've got. And on the pitch we have to show that, week after week. "It's not because you've got the biggest squad that you're guaranteed to win."
