Shot-stopper joins Yorkshire club on four-month deal

Sheffield United have captured goalkeeper Richard Wright on a four-month short-term deal. Former England shot-stopper Wright, who has been without a club since his release from Ipswich in the summer, arrives at Bramall Lane on a free transfer. The 32-year-old, who has spent time at Arsenal and Everton, will challenge current keeper Steve Simonsen for the No.1 jersey. Blades manager Gary Speed is happy to broaden his options between the sticks. "We are delighted to be able to bring in someone of Richard's calibre, he's played internationally and has hundreds of first-team games behind him," Speed told the club's official website. "Richard bolsters the squad. He not only provides competition for Steve Simonsen but also gives us the opportunity to make Mihkel Aksalu available for loan to enable him to get much-needed first-team games under his belt."
