Walsall manager Chris Hutchings has confirmed he is trying to extend the loan of Manchester City defender Clayton McDonald for a third and final month.
McDonald has made eight appearances for the Saddlers since joining in September, but is due to return to City after Saturday's FA Cup tie against Stourbridge.
He has yet to reclaim his place in the Walsall team since recovering from a groin injury, but remains part of Hutchings' plans.
Hutchings is holding talks with City regarding an extension for the 20-year-old and admits McDonald is keen to stay with the League One club.
"Clayton is available for Saturday and we're looking to extend that loan," Hutchings told the Express & Star.
"We've been in contact with Manchester City and we're waiting for them to get back in touch with us.
"The lad wants to stay, he's enjoyed it. He was playing, got injured and now wants to get back into the side. All young players don't want to play in the reserves, they want to play in the first team and he's had a good taste of it."
