Brazilian talks with Robinho about possible switch

Brazilian star Luisao has admitted to skysports.com that he has talked with Robinho about the prospect of moving to Manchester City. The Benfica central defender is ready to quit the Estadio da Luz after they again missed out on UEFA Champions League qualification. Benfica know that their failure to finish in the top two means that some of their prized assets will have to leave as they have not been able to count on the money that the Champions League brings for three seasons. Luisao is expected to be one of the first big names to be sold, along with the likes of Oscar Cardozo and Angel Di Maria. A number of clubs are said to be keeping tabs on Luisao, with City mooted as suitors, and the stopper admits he is thinking about the prospect of a switch to Eastlands this summer.

Big chance

"I know the subject and for me it could be a sensational chance," he told skysports.com. "To play in the Premier League is not easy but for me it will be a personal challenge. "It is true that I have spoken with Robinho about Manchester City and other clubs, and my companion in the Canarinha (Brazil national side) have encouraged me to move to England. "I will agree a solution before the of June, but now my head is with the Brazil squad." Luisao was speaking from the Brazilian training camp ahead of their World Cup qualifier with Paraguay on Thursday - which you can see live on Sky Sports 1 from 1.50AM.
