Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy is hoping to extend the loan of Manchester City youngster Ryan McGivern.
The defender played the final game of his initial one-month spell at Christie Park in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Exeter City.
He has now returned to City, but McIlroy is keen to bring the 18-year-old back to the club ahead of an FA Cup second-round tie against Cheltenham Town.
"We are talking with Manchester City because we would love to keep Ryan here," McIlroy told the club's official website.
"His current loan spell is now up, but we will be trying to get him back.
"He's enjoyed it here and the boys have really enjoyed having him as well.
"I think his spell here has been good for him and helped his game and he knows that he is guaranteed games here which is something that will help his development further.''
