Elano to fight for City future

Elano insists he is ready to fight for his future at Manchester City.

Brazilian star insists no Hughes rift

Manchester City forward Elano insists he is ready to fight for his future at Eastlands. The Brazilian star spoke out against manager Mark Hughes at the weekend after being dropped to the bench for the last three games following the 2-0 defeat at Bolton. The 27-year-old was even linked with a loan move to ambitious Championship side QPR on Monday, which would boost QPR's profile and put Elano in the shop window. But the former Shakhtar Donetsk and Santos man claims he has cleared the air with Hughes and is determined to earn his City place back while helping the Blues get their season back on track.

No trouble

"I have spoken with the manager and I do not want any trouble with him," said Elano. "He knows what my qualities are and I now just want to help the team." Hughes has given fit-again strike pair Benjani and Darius Vassell their chance to impress ahead of Elano but City are still without a win in their last four league games.
