Morecambe have signed Ryan McGivern on a one-month loan deal from Manchester City.
The Northern Ireland international has been signed by Shrimps boss Sammy McIlroy in order to bolster the club's defensive options.
The 18-year-old has played a key role for City's successful youth team over the last few years, helping the club claim the FA Youth Cup last season.
He toured Thailand with the Blues' first-team squad over the summer and was handed his international debut in a friendly against Scotland in August.
He was sent-off during that contest at Hampden Park, but both his national boss Nigel Worthington and his new coach at Morecambe believe he has a bright future in the game.
"Ryan certainly impressed in training and it is easy to see why he is so highly rated," McIlroy told the club's official website.
"He has settled in well with the lads as well and it is a real boost to us.
"I think it says a lot about Morecambe as well that Manchester City are allowing a player like him to join us."
