Manchester City playmaker Elano expects summer signing Robinho to make a major impact in the Premier League.
Robinho sealed a shock deadline day switch to Eastlands from Real Madrid for a British record fee of £32.5million.
And Elano, who signed for City from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2007, is backing his Brazilian compatriot to shine in England's top flight.
He told skysports.com: "Robinho is one of the best players that has arrived to England in the last decades.
"I know him from my time at Santos and the Brazil squad. He is a star.
"This is a sensation for City. I am happy at his arrival. He is nearly impossible to defend against.
"It is the squad's job to ensure he settles here. He is a big professional and will be a fans' favourite."
Robinho is poised to make his City debut on Saturday as the club he was expected to join during the summer, Chelsea, head to the City of Manchester Stadium.
