Doncaster are confident of tying up a permanent deal for Manchester City defender Matthew Mills.
The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at the Keepmoat Stadium, helping Rovers secure promotion to the Championship.
Having impressed during his time in South Yorkshire, Sean O'Driscoll is keen to get the youngster on board on a full-time basis.
"It's all but there and we are as close as we have ever been, so if we can get him, we'd get him in the next 24 hours I'd imagine," the Rovers boss told the club's official website.
"I've been saying for so long that we could do with bringing in a couple (of centre-backs) if we can, although if it doesn't happen we have looked at four or five others to give us options, and that is what we need to do."
