Sven Goran Eriksson has revealed that Richard Dunne is set to sign a new Manchester City contract in the next few weeks.
Dunne has enjoyed a magnificent season alongside Micah Richards in the heart of the City defence.
Richards recently put pen-to-paper on a new long-term deal and Dunne is now set to follow suit.
There had been speculation that the Republic of Ireland international might leave in the summer after negotiations stalled last month, but talks are back under way and Eriksson is confident the matter will soon be resolved.
"I know that talks are ongoing but I don't know what stage they are at," the City boss told Sky Sports News.
"I do not think it will be as long as a month. I think we are talking weeks."
Eriksson has also paid tribute to Dietmar Hamann, another player to have signed a new deal in recent weeks.
Hamann has been a steady performer in midfield and Eriksson also believes he brings out the best in his team-mates.
He said: "Didi has been extremely important for us this season. He is the most experienced. If he is not like a father, he is like a big brother to a young squad.
"His performances have always been very good."
