Manchester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson has rubbished reports suggesting Internazionale are interested in luring star man Elano away from Eastlands.
Eriksson signed the midfielder for £8million from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer and the Brazilian has proved money well spent as City have surged up to fourth the Premier League table.
Inter, who currently sit seven points clear at the top of Serie A, are rumoured to be lining up a bid for Elano as they look to strengthen their squad for a defence of their Italian league title.
However, Eriksson - who has hinted that there will be new arrivals at City when the transfer window opens in January - feels he is perfectly placed to judge Inter's interest due to his friendship with the Italian club's coach Roberto Mancini.
"If Inter wanted one of our players, I am sure Roberto Mancini would have telephoned me straightaway," said Eriksson.
"I know him and we speak regularly with each other. He would be the first one to tell me if Inter wanted Elano. So I don't think they do."
