Leroy Lita has revealed Stuart Pearce was calm and composed at half-time despite England's Under 21s trailing 2-0 to their Spanish counterparts.
Pearce was nicknamed 'psycho' during his playing days, but opted against reading the riot act despite a poor first half showing at Pride Park in his first game in charge.
Pearce's troops turned things around after the interval thanks to goals from David Nugent and Lita and the Reading ace was pleased England got their game together.
"He was really calm, just told us what we were doing wrong and what we needed to do," stated Lita. "We showed them too much respect and we needed to be more positive.
"It's always nice for the new manager to get a good start, we didn't start off well but we got back in the game for him. In the end it was a great performance."
