Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce expects Sylvain Distin to commit his future to the Eastlands club in the coming days.
The powerful French defender has just over a year left on his existing deal, although Pearce is keen to retain his services in the long-term.
City's offer, believed to be in the region of £30,000-a-week, has now been given the thumbs up by Distin's advisors.
Pearce believes with the former Newcastle man happy with the deal, he will put pen to paper in the not too distant future.
"We have spoken with Sylvain again and I've been told that he is happy with what we have offered," said Pearce.
"He hasn't actually signed, but we expect him to do so now we have reached an agreement with his advisors."
Should Distin sign, Pearce will then turn his attention to Joey Barton who is also stalling on signing a contract extension.
