Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce is hopeful two of the club's stars will agree new deals in the summer.
Defender Sylvain Distin and midfielder Joey Barton have both been offered contract extensions with the club, but as yet, neither have signed.
Pearce believes Distin will soon be on board for the long term, but the future of Barton is less clear-cut after he refused to talk until the summer.
"We are talking with Sylvain's representatives. We have made a fantastic offer to him and we expect him to sign very shortly," said Pearce.
"We made a fantastic offer to Joey but he decided to leave it and talk again in the summer.
"We will review it again in the summer but we'd like to keep both players.
"They are good lads to have around the place, good players and I think they will flourish under me and Manchester City."
