Richard Dunne wants Sylvain Distin and Joey Barton to commit their futures to Manchester City.
The Irish international is himself in talks over a fresh deal and he is hopeful that his two influential colleagues will sign on at The City of Manchester Stadium.
"I hope that Sylvain is here for another four or five years, and then we can build something from a strong base," Dunne said.
"Sylvain is his own man, but being the captain of the club is a major thing for him, and I think he wants to stay.
"I also think it is important that Joey stays. He seems to have got over his little bit of trouble in the middle of the season and his performances have been terrific.
"I hope Joey wants to stay. It is up to the club to make sure we can offer future players European football and the knowledge that we will be up there in the league."
Dunne is very keen to sign on for the long-term at Eastlands.
"I am pleased to have seen my initial contract out and pleased to have been offered more," he told The City Magazine.
"I would have liked to have signed for longer when I got my last extension, so we will see what happens this time around.
"I would be delighted to sign for another three or four years. Continuity is important in football, particularly for fans.
"I am sure that they do not want to come back every pre-season looking at a completely new side."
