Manchester City are understood to be offering a trial to former Liverpool winger Bernard Diomede.
French sources have indicated that the 30-year-old is bidding to earn a move to The City of Manchester Stadium as Kevin Keegan puts him through his paces.
After being part of France's successful 1998 World Cup squad, he failed to make the grade at Anfield but is willing to have another crack at life in England.
Formerly with Auxerre, the wide man's most recent club is Ajaccio but he is now a free agent.
Although the transfer deadline has passed, out-of-contract players are still able to move on, and Keegan is taking the opportunity to assess Diomede's form and fitness.
Keegan will have been buoyed by City's impressive demolition of Charlton Athletic last weekend, and has managed to keep Nicolas Anelka despite speculation regarding the striker's future.
