Mick McCarthy has moved to quell speculation that The Black Cats will sell versatile star Julio Arca to Manchester City - insisting that Sunderland will keep the Argentine.
Arca has been linked with a move to The City of Manchester Stadium, but McCarthy dismissed the rumour out of hand - hinting that a new deal for the player was close
"We've not received an enquiry for Julio from Manchester City," McCarthy told Sunderland's official website.
"But I'm not surprised there is speculation about him because he is a very good player.
"I've spoke to Julio who has said he is very happy here.
"The club and Julio's agent have held very positive talks."
Arca has made over 100 appearances for Sunderland since joining back in 2000 from Argentinos Juniors.
