Pilgrims snap up Citizen

BOSTON UNITED have signed defender Patrick McCarthy on a month's loan from Premiership side Manchester City.

He is likely to go into The Pilgrims' starting line-up for the Division Three clash against Hull City at Boothferry Park on Saturday.

Meanwhile, manager Neil Thompson will be without the services of defender Paul Ellender for up to six weeks.

The 28-year-old damaged knee ligaments in a reserve match with the York Street club this week.

In other news, Andy Lodge has had his contract with Boston terminated by mutual consent.

He has gone on to join Dr. Martens League Premier Division side Ilkeston Town.

Mark Monington has left The Pilgrims as well and joined Conference side Halifax Town on a month's loan.

The former Rochdale man has struggled to hold down a regular place with Neil Thompson's side.
