WOLVES GO TOP - BAGGIES INTO THIRD

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS went to the top of the Division One table with a 3-0 win over Rotherham United, while local-rivals West Bromwich moved into third following their win over Burnley at The Hawthorns.

Wolves continued their wonderful start to the season with their fifth win in five games at Millmoor over bottom-of-the-table Rotherham. Scottish international Colin Cameron claimed his first goal for the club when he got on the end of a Kevin Muscat ball to finish clinically.

Cameron then turned provider when he played Mark Kennedy (pictured) through on goal and the Irish international crashed the ball home to double Wolves' lead. Alex Rae then became the second Scottish international to grab his first goal for the club with an 83rd minute strike.

West Brom's win allowed Wolves to overtake previous leaders Burnley, as The Clarets went down 1-0. Scott Dobie grabbed the winner with a header from Neil Clement's 67th minute free kick.

Manchester City missed their chance to move into the top three, after they suffered a shock 4-0 home defeat to Wimbledon. Irish international David Connolly (23 pen & 55) grabbed the opening two goals, before Neil Shipperley sealed the win with a brace of his own (83 & 90).

Norwich lost their place in the top three, after they suffered their a 2-0 loss at Sheffield United. Carl Asaba (40) and Patrick Suffo (45) scored the goals just before half time. The Blades were reduced to ten men in the second half when Asaba was sent off for his second bookable offence.

Crystal Palace climbed into fifth with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

Fresh from his recall to the Scottish squad, Dougie Freedman scored twice in the opening 13 minutes, before Clinton Morrison made it 3-0 less than ten minutes later.

Tommy Johnson then pulled one back just before half time for Wednesday, but that was a mere consolation as Morrison grabbed Palace's fourth just seven minutes into the second half.

Bradford secured a 3-2 win after Grimsby at Valley Parade, after they had thrown away a two-goal lead. The Bantams raced into a 2-0 lead after 25 minutes, with goals from Robbie Blake (11) and Eoin Jess (25), but Lennie Lawrence's men produced a wonderful second half display. Jonathan Rowan (58) and Michael Boulding (80) both scored, but Bradford came forward and Ashley Ward grabbed all three points with a goal just three minutes from time.

Coventry's wonderful progress under care-take manager Roland Nilsson continued with a 2-1 win at Gillingham. Jairo Martinez, who was starting his first ever game for the Sky Blues, scored his second goal in two games after 14 minutes, before Moroccan international Youssef Chippo sealed the win just before half time. Paul Shaw pulled one back for the home side in the final seconds.

The day was marred for Coventry when Chippo's fellow countryman Youssef Safri was sent off after 67 minutes.

Nottingham Forest claimed a 2-1 win over Stockport at the City Ground. Jack Lester had fired Forest into a 2-0 lead with two goals in nine first half minutes (10 & 19). Mike Flynn then scored just after half time for Stockport, but Forest held on for all three points.

Walsall game with Millwall ended goalless as The Bescot Stadium, as did the clash between Crewe and Birmingham at Gresty Road.
