Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is close to completing a move to Newcastle, according to Sky sources.
It is understood the Serbia international's representatives are currently on Tyneside finalising the player's personal terms after an agreement was reached with his current club and a deal is expected to be completed soon.
Mitrovic is a 20-year-old forward who scored 23 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions for Anderlecht last season.
He impressed in the Champions League group stages, scoring in the matches against Borussia Dortmund and a 3-3 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates in November.
Mitrovic joined Anderlecht from Partizan Belgrade in 2013, having failed to make a first-team appearance for the Serbian side, and has made 78 appearances, scoring 30 goals, for the Belgian team overall.
Newcastle's new manager Steve McClaren has also moved closer to signing the Netherlands midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum from PSV Eindhoven, according to Sky sources.
