Paris Saint Germain coach Laurent Blanc has revealed he would like to sign either Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye or Miralem Pjanic of Roma.
Blanc has never hidden his admiration for the Magpies man, who he handed an international debut to when France boss back in 2010, and has said he wants to sign a midfielder this month.
And while he also admires the skills of Roma's Pjanic, he admits it would be hard to land either of the pair during this transfer window.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, he said: "Cabaye and Pjanic are actually two of our targets, they are two players we want.
"They are similar, they have the same profile of a very technical midfielder. There are two alternatives, there is no choice of number one or number two.
"There are negotiations ongoing, but it's hard to complete them in January. I would be very happy to have a midfielder."
