Melbourne Heart's Curtis Good is a step closer to joining Newcastle United after his application for a work permit was approved.
The Australian centre-back, who impressed Magpies manager Alan Pardew during a trial stint in June, has passed a medical and will officially sign a contract before the end of the week.
The transfer is reported to cost Newcastle £400,000 and the 19-year-old will provide the club with much needed reinforcement at the back.
Heart head coach John Aloisi admitted that Good will be missed, but is delighted to see him heading for the Premier League.
Opportunity
"It's a fantastic opportunity for Curtis," Aloisi said on Sportal.
"Newcastle United is one of the biggest clubs in the United Kingdom, and we are absolutely delighted he has the opportunity to test his wares on such a stage.
"While Curtis will certainly be missed, his proposed transfer is a great affirmation of our youth policy, and a demonstration of the club's ability to assist in developing players to such an extent that they're able to move to one of Europe's leading competitions.
"We wish Curtis well and hope he will one day return to don the red and white stripes of our club."
