No Toon approach for Swede

But Magpies have watched striking starlet

Swedish outfit Joenkoeping Soedra have told Sky Sports that Newcastle and Valencia have not made approaches for striking starlet Branimir Hrgota. However, they refused to deny that the two clubs had been watching the 19-year-old striking sensation. Hrgota scored 18 goals in 20 starts last term, and he has picked up this season from where he left off with three in four so far. And it is this form that has seen the likes of Newcastle and Valencia linked with bids, and both are understood to have attended Joenkoeping matches in recent weeks. Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports, Joenkoeping sporting director and head coach Hans Lindbom admitted interest in the youngster was increasing. "A lot of clubs have been to Sweden to see him," he told Sky Sports. When asked specifically about Newcastle and Valencia, he would only say they have not made contact. "They have not approached at the moment, whether they have been watching I cannot say." The likes of Ajax, Heerenveen, Bayer Leverkusen, Zurich and Grasshopppers are all closely following the teenager, who is of Croatian descent but is a Swedish youth international. Lindbom, a former youth coach with Sweden, has worked with some of the country's top players in recent years and he admits Hrgota is something special. "He is a natural goalscorer, but not only that he reads the game well," he said. "And for his age, I think he is one of the best I have seen." Linbom admits that he thinks Hrgota will be leaving this summer, saying: "I hope he stays, but as a club we would have to consider any reasonable offer.. "I would like him to stay in Sweden, but when you see some of the clubs looking at him it is hard to say no."
