Magpies' defender says the 'boys are buzzing' after Villa win

Newcastle defender Mike Williamson has praised the impact of new signing Papiss Cisse after the Senegal striker bagged the winning goal against Aston Villa on Sunday. The former Wycombe and Watford centre-back believes the signing of Cisse has given everybody at St James' Park a 'massive boost' as they look to secure a high finish in the Premier League. The victory at home to Villa was secured by goals from Demba Ba and international colleague Cisse, after both returned from the Africa Cup of Nations to ensure back-to-back wins. And Williamson is sure that Cisse, 26, who cost the club approaching £10million when he joined from German side Freiburg in January, will be a huge hit with the fans. He told the club's official website: "He (Ba) has the quality in him that's there for everyone to see, and so has Papiss Cisse. "He's came in and he's also a threat, and that's given the lads a massive boost - and the crowd. "It was only on Friday that he arrived and he was straight into it. What a way to mark your debut. "He doesn't speak a great deal of English but I'm sure he'll catch on quickly, and the fans will take to him massively now. That'll make his confidence go up and it'll be good for him." And regarding the game against Villa, he added: "It's another three points and the boys are buzzing. The spirit's high and we'll look to keep the momentum going."
