Teenager rewarded after impressing against Leicester

Coventry City teenager Gael Bigirimana has been rewarded with a one-year contract extension to stay at the Ricoh Arena until 2014. The talented midfielder shone during pre-season and was duly handed his full Football League debut in Saturday's opening game of the new campaign against promotion favourites Leicester. Bigirimana's inclusion and subsequent shining display only proved to highlight his potential and City have moved quickly to tie the 17-year-old down on a longer contract. Coventry manager Andy Thorn said: "I'm delighted Gael has decided to sign this new deal. "He has acquitted himself extremely well since his step up to the first team, he fully deserved to make his league debut at the weekend and this extension shows how highly we regard him." Bigirimana, a graduate of the club's Academy, signed his first professional deal, which was due to run until 2013, with the Sky Blues in the summer.
