Youngster signs two-year extension to silence transfer talk

Vurnon Anita has penned a new two-year deal at Ajax to keep him in Amsterdam until June 2014. The versatile 22-year-old, a youth product at the Eredivisie club, can play in several positions in defence and midfield. Anita's previous deal was due to expire next summer and he had been linked with a move to French giants Marseille. But the Netherlands international, capped three times for his country, says he is delighted to pledge his future to the Dutch champions. "This means a lot to me because Ajax are my first club," he told the club's official website. "It was an easy decision." Anita made his Ajax debut in March 2006 before establishing himself as a regular in the side at the start of the 2009/10 campaign. His three league goals for the club have all come this season, helping the Godenzonen to their first title triumph in seven years.
