Slovenian stays at Newcastle until 2016

Newcastle starlet Haris Vuckic has signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract at St James' Park. The highly-rated Slovenian will now stay at Newcastle until the summer of 2016. The midfielder made his Newcastle debut in August 2009 and has turned out three times for the Magpies so far this season, all in the Carling Cup. The 18-year-old becomes the fourth Newcastle player to commit his long-term future to the club in recent weeks after Steven Taylor, Mike Williamson and Nile Ranger all put pen-to-paper on new deals. "I've been here a few years now and am very settled, so it is good to get the deal sorted," Vuckic told the club's official website. "As a player you will always see 100% commitment from me on the pitch. "I know I can progress at Newcastle and will only learn from spending every day around the sort of quality, experienced players we have here. Newcastle boss Alan Pardew believes Vukic has a bright future on Tyneside. "Haris is a player with real potential who we believe could have an exciting future here at Newcastle," said Pardew. "It is great news for all parties that he has agreed a new contract."
