Newcastle United winger Kazenga LuaLua is hoping to extend his loan deal at Brighton & Hove Albion until the end of the season.
LuaLua has made four appearances since joining the League One club last month and his initial deal is due to expire after Brighton's game at Colchester United next Monday.
Seagulls boss Gus Poyet has expressed his intention to hang on to the 19-year-old and LuaLua would be happy to stay at the Withdean Stadium.
"I would like to stay here until the end of the season, I'm enjoying it," LuaLua told the club's official website. "It's been very good since I've been here so hopefully we can extend the loan as I like it here.
"It's up to Chris Hughton and what he thinks. I've told my agent I would like to stay here until the end of the season because it's been very good for me, but it's up to Chris and we'll have to see what he says.
"The club are trying to push forward getting ready for next season. I don't know about a long-term deal.
"I will have to see what happens, but right now I'm concentrating on playing well and enjoying my football."
