Shola Ameobi is confident Newcastle can overcome their derby day despair and secure a much-needed win against West Brom.
Ameobi scored his second goal in a week to draw the Magpies level against Sunderland on Saturday before Kieran Richardson gave the Black Cats their first home win over their arch-rivals for 28 years.
That kept Newcastle in the bottom three and without a win in seven league games, but Ameobi felt Joe Kinnear's men did enough to suggest they can halt their wretched run on Tuesday.
"We have to pick ourselves up, there's no question," he said. "We gave a performance on Saturday where we felt we could have won it, but it wasn't to be.
"But we have to look forward now and forget about that, which is sometimes hard to do.
"We have to get over it, look forward to the next game and try to get maximum points, especially playing at home.
"Hopefully, we can give another good performance and grab a win."
