Magpies and Addicks linked with youngster

Leyton Orient boss Martin Ling has played down reports suggesting Jason Demetriou is set to leave the club. The youngster has progressed through the youth ranks at Brisbane Road, but is now attracting interest from elsewhere. The 20-year-old is comfortable both on the right-hand side of defence or midfield and has made over 60 appearances for the League One club. He is thought to be a transfer target for Premier League side Newcastle and Championship outfit Charlton.

Talent

However, Ling is adamant that he is yet to receive an approach for his promising starlet. "I don't know where the story has come from, and I certainly haven't had either of those clubs on the phone asking about Jason," the Orient boss told the Waltham Forest Guardian. "Of course I know people will be interested in him because he is a good young player, and we also have a reputation for producing our own talent if you think about Nicky Shorey and Gabby Zakuani. "I do see Jason playing at a higher level one day but there has been no interest in him so far."
