Winger hopes to impress St James' Park faithful

Jonas Gutierrez hopes to prove a hit at Newcastle United in order to repay the faith of the club's supporters. The Argentine winger joined the Magpies at the beginning of July as he left Real Mallorca to become manager Kevin Keegan's first summer signing. Gutierrez is set to make his home debut in Wednesday night's friendly with PSV Eindhoven and he is looking forward to his opening outing on Tyneside. The 25-year-old made his first Newcastle appearance in last Friday's defeat to Hertha Berlin in the Mallorca Summer Cup, but he is now optimistic he can impress the St James' Park faithful.

Happy

"I have heard many great things about St James' Park and the fans already," Gutierrez told Newcastle's official website. "I have been made very welcome in Newcastle by everyone I have met. "That makes me want to give the fans something to be happy about and I think they will like the way I play. "I can't wait to play at the home stadium and we have two very good friendlies this week. "The trip to Mallorca has been very good for me because I have been able to get to know the players and staff."
