Newcastle midfielder concerned by lack of strength in depth

Newcastle United do not have enough players to cope with the new Premier League season, according to midfielder Geremi. The Cameroon international is concerned by a lack of strength in depth and is desperate to see additional new faces before the Magpies begin their campaign at Manchester United on 17th August. Jonas Gutierrez, Danny Guthrie and Sebastien Bassong have been the only arrivals at St James' Park this summer as boss Kevin Keegan has resisted the urge to overhaul the squad he inherited when returning to the club in January. But Geremi hopes Newcastle, who have been linked with Deportivo La Coruna defender Fabricio Coloccini and Arsenal centre-back Philippe Senderos, will spend before the beginning of the season. "We don't have enough players," Geremi said in The Sun. "We hope we are going to get more next week."
