Feyenoord and Heerenveen are reported to be battling it out to sign Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul.

The 20-year-old is at best third choice at St James' Park and he could now be set to depart the club.

Dutch newspapers De Telegraaf and Algemeen Dagblad both confirm that Newcastle have quoted any interested parties €2.5million for the highly-rated shot-stopper.

Feyenoord are looking for Krul to become number two to Henk Timmer with current back-up Sherif Ekramy set to be offloaded.

Feyenoord are understood to have already had a loan bid rejected by Newcastle, as they only want a permanent deal.

Reports have also linked Chelsea with a bid, with a view to loaning him out with Ipswich mentioned as a possible destination.
