Obafemi Martins has admitted to being shocked by the news that Sam Allardyce had left Newcastle.
The striker is currently away with Nigeria at their Spanish training camp in the build-up to the African Cup of Nations and has told of his surprise at the events unfolding at St James' Park.
Martins had featured in all 21 of Newcastle's Premier League games so far this season so will be disappointed to see a manager leave that obviously had so much faith in his ability.
Whilst now having to come to terms with the fact that when he returns to Tyneside there will be a new man in charge, Martins was well aware of the pressure that Allardyce had been under.
"I was surprised, and I think most people at the club would have been surprised too," he said.
"But there was a lot of pressure on him and it was really difficult."
