Brazilian out to replicate Lyon success with Magpies

Brazilian defender Claudio Cacapa has set his sights on winning silverware with Newcastle. Cacapa moved to St James' Park from Lyon in August and he is keen to replicate the success he enjoyed with the French champions. Newcastle have endured a disappointing season and the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at the weekend has heaped pressure on under-fire manager Sam Allardyce. However, Cacapa - who was substituted after 18 minutes of the Magpies' 4-1 home defeat to Portsmouth at the start of November - believes the St James' Park faithful deserve success.

"I won some titles in France and I hope it will be the same here," Cacapa told French media. "The fans deserve it. There are 50,000 for each match." Cacapa also insists he is keen to see out his contract at Newcastle, despite an unsettled start to his time in England. "I am not a mercenary," he added. "I am keen to stay here for three years. I want to enter the club's history. "I made a decision to leave Lyon and I have no regret. Newcastle have trusted me."
