Reports in Spain claim that Newcastle have accepted Levante's offer for Albert Luque.
A meeting between the striker's agent, and father, Rafael Luque with the Magpies directors was successful, although details of the deal have not been made available with a loan thought to be the possible option.
"I just want to play and get more minutes in," Albert Luque told the Valencia media.
"At Newcastle this is difficult and the option of joining Levante is attractive to me."
It is reported that the forward will arrive at Levante early next week to undergo a medical.
The Spaniard has not been able to establish himself at St James' Park since his £9.5million move from Deportivo La Coruna in 2005.
He has shown glimpses of form in pre-season, but is unlikely to play a major role this season with the arrivals of Mark Viduka and Alan Smith increasing competition for places at St James' Park.
A number of other clubs are understood to want Luque on loan, with Feyenoord also being linked to the player.
