Kieron Dyer admits he would love to team up with Jonathan Woodgate at Newcastle next season.

Woodgate, currently on loan at hometown club Middlesbrough, is set to decide his future in the summer.

Boro have already agreed a fee with Real Madrid to make the move permanent and are hopeful Woodgate will stay on Teesside.

But the England defender, who left St James' Park for Madrid in 2004, wants UEFA Champions League football and is already rumoured to be the target of Arsenal.

However, Dyer says he would love to have Woodgate back on Tyneside.

"If we do try and get him in the summer I will be on the phone every day trying to persuade him to come back to Newcastle," Dyer told the Daily Mirror.

"But at the moment he is a Boro player so it's a bit disrespectful to be talking about trying to get him to come to Newcastle."
