Newcastle assistant manager Nigel Pearson has paid tribute to Obafemi Martins and Nicky Butt.
Martins made a slow start to life at St James' Park following his summer move from Internazionale but has gone on to rack up ten goals in all competitions this season.
He has made some match-winning contributions for The Magpies and Pearson feels he will continue to go from strength to strength.
"For anybody coming into the Premiership it does take a wee bit of time, but he's performing very well," Pearson told Sky Sports News.
"His goal ratio is good and he's scoring some important goals for us so I think it bodes well for the future."
Nicky Butt has also impressed this season and Pearson admits his experience has been invaluable throughout Newcastle's injury-hit campaign.
"It's particularly pleasing for us and his team-mates that he is getting some recognition for his performances and I think that is good for us long-term," praised Pearson.
"He brings a lot of experience where there are a lot of young players taking the field for us on a regular basis."
Newcastle tackle Birmingham in an FA Cup third round replay on Wednesday after being held to a 2-2 draw at St Andrews.
A home tie against Reading is up for grabs for the winners but Pearson is not looking beyond the challenge of Birmingham.
"It's going to be a difficult tie," he warned.
"We have to make sure that we play to our maximum, get the right result and get into the next round."
