Obafemi Martins insists he must win trophies at Newcastle United before he can consider leaving the club.
The Magpies' new £10 million striker made a slow start to his Premiership career because of injury.
But the 21-year-old opened his account at St James' with a brace in the 2-1 Uefa Cup second leg victory over Levadia Tallinn.
While refusing to rule out a return to Internazionale at some point in the future, he is adamant that he wants to bring success to the North East first.
"Never say never, but before that I want to win the title with Newcastle," Martins told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I'm feeling better here all the time.
"The period of adaptation is ending. English football is really exciting.
"The language isn't a problem, the club hold me in high esteem, my team-mates too, and I already had a friend here in Belozoglu Emre.
"We live really close and we frequently speak about Inter."
The Tyneside faithful may not be overly enamoured with his continuing fondness for his old club, but Martins has reassured fans it is only natural.
"I spent five years of my life with Nerazzurri, it's impossible to forget," he added.
