Australian World Cup defender Craig Moore has returned to the Newcastle United ranks for the team's crucial Intertoto Cup tie with Lillestrom on Saturday.
The 30-year-old centre back surprised manager Glenn Roeder by coming back early from his extended break to make the squad for the return leg with the Norwegians.
The 1-1 draw at St James' Park highlighted some of the team's frailties and the boss could look to Moore's experience to see them through a tricky away leg.
"Craig is back training with us and he will be on the plane to Oslo tomorrow [Wednesday] morning," Roeder told the club's website.
"We will see how he goes in training for the rest of the week and decide on Friday whether he will be involved against Lillestrom."
France defender Jean-Alain Boumsong is still missing for the clash, as he recovers from the tournament in Germany, but Roeder's team know the significance that a win and a Uefa Cup run would have for the struggling loyal Tyneside supporters.
