PORTO have beaten off competition from Newcastle and Middlesbrough to land Portuguese Under-21 international Jose Bosingwa.
The 20-year-old has impressed for Boavista over the past few seasons, playing in a variety of positions but mainly in central midfield.
The Dragons have just completed the treble after adding the Portuguese title and cup to their Uefa Cup success, but they are not resting on their laurels and have moved to bolster their squad for the next season with the signing of Bosingwa.
"He will be a very useful signing for us," said Porto coach Jose Mourinho.
"We have a very hard season ahead of us with some very big competitions."
Bosingwa who has cost just é¼500,000 has penned a four-year deal with an option for another two.
"To play for a side like Porto is very important for me," said the 20-year-old.
"They are the champions of Portugal and the Champions League is a dream for every player."
