Portuguese starlet reveals English dream

PORTUGUESE starlet Jose Bosingwa, who is being chased by both Middlesbrough and Newcastle United, has admitted to planetfootball.com that he would love to play in England.

The 20-year-old is one of the most highly rated youngsters in Portugal and he is a firm fixture in the Under-21 side.

He played 90 minutes in Friday's 4-2 win over England and Boro are thought to have posted scouts at the game, whilst Newcastle boss Sir Bobby Robson and chief scout Charlie Woods were present at the game.

Bosingwa played in midfield against England and was the anchor to the side, but he can also play in defence and has often been seen in a 'libero' role for Boavista.

Middlesbrough are believed to have made contact with the player's club Boavista to check on the youngster's current situation and contract details.

Following the game, Bosingwa spoke to planetfootball.com about his future and in particular the speculation about him moving to England.

"I do not know anything of The Premier League, but the club know that there have been English coaches who have been watching us recently," he revealed. 

Despite no firm offers, the youngster confirmed that he would love to ply his trade in The Premiership.

"To play in England, it would be a dream," he added.

"But I do like to be realistic and at the moment, I am only worried about Boavista and that we can come through the semi-final in the Uefa Cup against Celtic.

"My future, though, depends on the club."

Planetfootball.com also spoke to Boavista president Jorge Loureiro, who confirmed that there was English interest in his midfield starlet.

"There are a number of English clubs following our players at Boavista," he said.

"At this moment, though, there are no offers on the table.

"Also, we have now put the subject of players to one side until after our Uefa Cup game with Celtic so we are not distracted."

Boavista face Celtic over two legs in early April and Bosingwa is sure to play a major role.
