BURNLEY striker Dimitrios Papadopoulos has received his first call-up for Greece for their upcoming friendly against Republic of Ireland.

The young marksman has been a regular for Greece's Under-21 side but his displays for The Clarets have prompted a senior call.

Though the 21-year-old has primarily been employed as a substitute by the First Division outfit, his displays have caught the eye of Greek coach Otto Rehhagel.

Papadopoulos is joined in the squad for the first time by Stuttgart hit-man Yiannis Amanatidis.

The duo are among a batch of six foreign-based players who have been named by Rehhagel for the clash against managerless Ireland in Athens on November 20.

Newcastle centre-half Nikos Dabizas, Roma defender Traianos Dellas, Hannover's Kostas Konstantinidis and Werder Bremen's Angelos Charisteas make up the sextet.

The surprise omissions from the squad are Perugia hot shot Zivis Vryzas and Monaco schemer Akis Zikos.

Rehhagel will name the remaining members of his squad next week.
