LEIGH BROMBY is flattered by the interest being shown in him, but insists he is happy to remain with Sheffield Wednesday.

Bromby has been in impressive form, in what has been another disappointing season for The Owls, and the defender has attracted interest from the likes of Newcastle United, Southampton, Middlesbrough, and current Division One leaders Manchester City.

However the long-throw specialist is happy under Terry Yorath at Hillsborough, where a Worthington Cup run has pitted him against Premiership strikers.

"If there's people watching you then it's good to show that you can play against Premiership players," said Bromby.

"I'm confident in my own ability and hopefully I can do well.

"It's nice to read that some Premiership clubs are interested, it gives you a little boost and gives you confidence if people are watching.

"It means you're doing something right - but I'm happy at Wednesday.

"Terry Yorath has said he doesn't need to sell and I'm quite happy at Sheffield Wednesday.

"I'm learning my trade, it's a good league which is always a test."
