Aston Villa's Kieran Richardson is confident they can maintain their unbeaten start to the season when they take on Liverpool this weekend.

Villa have won two of their opening three games this season as they prepare to travel to Anfield this Saturday.

Richardson, who joined Villa from Fulham this summer, insists facing Liverpool holds no fear for Paul Lambert's side with Villa enjoying success on their last two visits to Anfield.

“We are full of confidence at the moment and playing well," said Richardson. "We look solid so I don’t see why we can’t go there and cause an upset.

“We have the players to do that. Not everyone expects us to win so there is no pressure and if we can get a result it would be a great thing.”

Richardson also believes Villa can defy the pundits who have tipped them to be in a relegation battle this season by enjoying a top-half finish in the Premier League.

"Hopefully we can stay a solid unit and stay in the top half of the table."
